I enjoy relaxing with a good movie, snuggling up with a blanket, and watching something captivating. The craft of storytelling, cinematography and acting always leaves me speechless especially when watching a film in the theaters. However, in today’s time I appreciate the access of streaming to help me watching on my own time. This list of movies have created some of my favorite memories and helped me become the writer I am today.
Life
An exceptional movie featuring outstanding performances, iconic scenes, and breathtaking cinematography, capturing a transitional period as the film industry moved into the next decade. Growing up in the early two thousands, this film was a staple in my life. I remember watching Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy portray two black men during the prohibition years. It was something I’ve never seen before and every moment of the movie had me intrigued and wanting to see more.
The screenwriting alone had me ready to become a writer but the chemistry between Ray and Claude create a long lasting impression on what a friendship truly is to me. Until, this day I am captivating by the experience of the friendship and where they would be in the future. I often think about a reboot or a prequel of the story to really see what happen after they left the baseball game. The ending was left on many cliffhangers and left room for many narratives.
The entire cast gave an outstanding performance deserving of awards, yet they were overlooked and not recognized. It’s something about a full black performance that triggers the one’s on top. However, that doesn’t deny the fact that Life is one of the best movies of all times. With a cast including; Bokeem Woodbine, Obba Babatundé, Guy Torry, Anthony Anderson, Sanaa Lathan and the late Clarence Williams III, Michael Taliferro and Bernie Mac, they created a classic film that all generations can enjoy.
Life was always be made my favorite movie all of times because the storytelling is really good, the cast is phenomenal and the overall production of the film is very entertaining. It’s a enjoy to watch movies that bring you on an emotional rollercoaster through comedy so when they come around I will always cherish them.
They Cloned Tyrone
They Cloned Tyrone is hands down the best movie of the last decade. This film has been on my screen more than twice since last year and I can’t seem to stop thinking about it. The Netflix’s original film directed by Juel Taylor has made a impact on the lives of those who relate and understands what it like growing up in America’s society.
Everything from the nostalgia of the cinematography impressed me and gave me a look into their brains of each character. The cast are individually incredible but together they created a magical portal of storytelling. The film stars John Boyega as fontaine, Teyonah Pariss as Yo Yo and Jamie Foxx as Slick Charles uncovering an unique discovery within their small town.
This movie is one of my favorites because it showcases that special connection between the community and those who are benefiting it. The culture is represented perfectly and the artistry presented is very well appreciated. They Cloned Tyrone is such an remarkable piece of work that deserves more than just streaming.
Entergalactic
The two thousand and twenty two Netflix film has been such a refreshing movie to watch when in need of inspiration. Rather you’re an artist or just a lover this movie has a moment in time for you. I loved the animations, the storytelling and the character development.
For some strange reason the film reminded me of “New Girl”, one of the most iconic dramedies to date. Kid Cudi’s ability to create such a creatively bliss experience has always been impressive to me. Therefore, watching this film gave me an emotional boast to continue to love and create.
“jinglelang- jinglelang” RIP Bernie
